Happy Friday ATX! 🤠 #87

Check out our list of the best things to do in Austin this weekend! šŸŽ¶šŸŖ©ā˜€ļø

Happy Friday ATX! 🤠 It’s National Hug a Drummer Day! Okay… I’ll take it šŸ˜‚

So we’re still recovering from weekend 1 of ACL and we had a hell of a time but it’s time for us to lock in because Kiana and I are taking over Inn Cahoots again tonight.

She DJs at IYKYK rooftop 7-10p through sunset, then my band starts playing Austin Garden at 9 and we go all the way ā€˜til midnight… so if you’re not going to ACL… come vibe with us!

Reminder. We’re throwing our first Happy Friday ATX Event called GATHER. A DJ Powered Wellness Event, and we couldn’t be more excited. Use this promo code ā€œhfatxfamā€ for 50% discount at checkout. We can’t wait to see you there! HERE’S THE LINK!

Anyways let’s jump into things! Here’s your meme for this week!

Best thing we ate this week… I feel like the best way to use this segment this week is to talk about a few of our favorite bites at ACL. There are so many great options, and some tips we maybe hadn’t thought about before last weekend. Like don’t order messy wings in a place without a proper sink to wash your hands. (you were delicious OKO but it was a terrible idea for a festivalā€¦šŸ˜‚)

Some of my favorites were KG smoked lamb chops, the Kokos Bavarian fries that I have thought about ever since I had them at a Bad Bunny show at Moody Center… the Gati Ice Cream Brownie Sundae, the Kokos Bavarian Pretzel, Four Brothers Empanadas, and honestly the list goes on and on. They’re showcasing some of Austin’s best food to festival visitors and it’s one of my favorite things about ACL.

Last tip I’ll give you is… don’t intentionally go to the shortest lines. The food has probably been sitting out for awhile and it’s noticably less fresh. Lines are part of ACL, and the food vendors with the longest lines will also have the freshest food. Don’t be like me and spend $50 dollars on some stale french fries and a soggy brisket crunch wrap (CM Smokehouse šŸ™„).

And if you don’t make it to ACL, all of these restaurants have permanent storefronts you can visit outside of the festival.

Most fun we had this week… Well obviously ACL… If you’re not going you can skip this… but if you want some must see acts here is my list:

Finneas and Ashe presents: The Favors - so musical. This is the personal project of Billie Eilish’s older brother Finneas who has produced 90% of her music, and Ashlyn Rae Willson (Ashe) and holy sh*t. This set knocked my socks off from beginning to end. They were all singing and passing around instruments and they set the bar so high on day 1. Don’t miss them on Friday if you’re out there.

Cage the Elephant - I’ve always loved them, but jeez if Finneas and Ashe set the bar, Cage the Elephant raised it. They were so tight. They rocked out so much harder than I expected but stayed so true to the records.

The Dare - I only knew his hit song Girls before his set… but left a fan of so much of his music. He absolutely killed it, his synth sounds were soul-rattling. For one dude on stage with a synth and a mixer… impressive.

LP Giobbi - a full on rave in the Titos tent. If if colorful-dancey-edm is your thing, this is a must.

DJO - incredible energy. He gave it everything and it was awesome. His band was also phenomenal. One of my favorite sets of the weekend.

Disco Lines - while everyone is obsessing over John Summit… real ones know… from a musical perspective, this was the DJ set of the weekend. Far more originals. Far less remixes. Lots of dancing.

Phantogram - …it’s PHANTOGRAM. I’ve never seen this stage packed like it was this weekend.

I would’ve LOVED to see Passion Pit but whoever put them on Titos must’ve been smoking cr*ck because that didn’t work at all.

All in all this was one of my favorite ACLs in a while. Say what you want about the lineup. But go try to see all of those acts (and the others i didn’t even mention) individually and tell me how much it costs you.
