Happy Friday ATX! 🤠It’s the last Friday of 2024! Can you believe it?!
Wow. Here we are. The last few days of 2024.

2024 was a roller coaster that flew by so fast, don’t let those memories fade into the abyss. Savor it all. Remember it all. Relive the best parts, learn from the worst parts, and get ready for what will inevitably be an even crazier 2025!

Weekend Forecast: Pretty wide range of temperatures this weekend from the lows in the 40s to high in the 70s. It’s a slow weekend though, I couldn’t even find 5 events worth featuring for some days, but we still scrapped together a list of some things to get you out of the house Friday-Sunday, and curated a list of some of the best New Years events Tuesday evening 🎆🌆
Best thing we ate this week… I don’t know about you, but I’m all about Holiday traditions that revolve around food. Every single year going on 10 years my family goes to Wu Chow on Christmas Day for dinner. If you haven’t been to Wu Chow, it’s a farm to table Chinese restaurant that serves family style dishes. We had a big spread including the egg ribbon soup, spicy cucumbers, hunan style beef, scallions hugging beef, chengdu chili chicken, sichuan braised eggplant, dry fried local green beans, Singapore noodles, and multiple bottles of wine. It was a Christmas feast, it was certainly the best thing we ate all week, and I don’t see this tradition stopping any time soon.
If you haven’t been to Wu Chow, no need to wait until next Christmas! They have an awesome Happy Hour 5-6p Monday-Friday, and the cocktail menu is fantastic..
Wu Chow
Most fun we had this week… A few weeks ago we wrote about Ice Rodeo at the Four Seasons, while we were there we heard whisperings of a Holiday speakeasy on the 2nd floor of the Four Seasons. We tried to gain entry that night, but it was booked out all the way until December 26th, so I booked it and then totally forgot until I got the reminder text that we had a reservation.
The speakeasy is called the Hidden Flask and it’s a suite that’s been converted to a Holiday bar with outrageously good cocktails and small bites. It’s a classy, dimly lit environment that’s great for a date or catching up with a friend. We had 2 cocktails, this tapenade popcorn, and goat cheese gelato that had a sundried tomato waffle cone and candied peppercorn hazelnuts. There is a small amount of availability left until the last day on the 4th of January. I definitely recommend this experience if you need one last dose of Holiday Spirit.
Hidden Flask Four Seasons
New Business that we want to try… I just heard about this place in North Austin called Activate Games. It’s a game room, but all of the games are extremely active and require you to get your body moving to play them. Each dynamic game room has interactive technology that reacts in real time, ensuring an adrenaline-filled adventure, and it seems like an awesome place to bring a group friends or have a work party. It looks like a unique, interactive experience that allows you to get your body moving and your heart pumping and I’m definitely going to drag a group of friends here one of these days!
