Happy Friday ATX! 🤠 Edition #54

We humans are meant to create, but we’re stuck in a society that influences us to consume, consume, consume.

This is your reminder to create something this weekend, if we all shift our balance from consuming just a little bit more towards creating… the world will get even more beautiful.

Best thing we ate this week… While Aaron was getting ready to play his show at Austin Garden & Studio, my mom, aunt, and I grabbed dinner at Eureka downtown. The space had a cozy, dimly lit vibe—surprisingly not as packed as I expected for a Friday night. 

I ordered a glass of their house red wine, while my mom and aunt tried the Bacon Whiskey cocktail. It had a cute presentation, but the bacon flavor was so intense it was hard for them to finish. If you’re a die-hard bacon fan, you might love it; otherwise, I’d suggest going for something a little more subtle. 

I went with the Fresno Fig Burger on their house gluten-free bun, and honestly, it’s in my top three burgers in Austin. The combo of goat cheese, fig marmalade, and bacon was spot on, and the bun and meat were both on point. My aunt got the spicy fried chicken sandwich and loved it, while my mom enjoyed her crispy veggie beet burger—made in-house, with great texture and a solid flavor profile. We all had a side of the truffle-parm fries which were delicious!

If you’re in the area or looking for a good spot before hitting the downtown scene, I’d definitely recommend checking it out.

New Business that we want to try… Fish Shop is a new restaurant opening up in Austin in Spring 2025 (so sometime soon!) and it draws inspiration from Old School oyster bars like San Francisco’s Swan Oyster Depot and Found Oyster in LA. Fish shop will focus on Spiny Lobsters, Dungeness Crab and clams from the West Coast. The team includes the husband and wife duo from Justine’s Brasserie so you KNOW it’s going to be one of the new go to spots for Seafood in East Austin. Here’s their Instagram so you can stay up to date on when they open up and be one of the first to try it!
