Happy Friday ATX! 🤠 It’s National Potato Chip Day! Do with that information what you will 🤔🥔
Honestly I’m on day 8 of SXSW and last night at 3am on my way home I was genuinely worried about my ability to get this one out this week… but we made it! 😂
Keep doing the things you love to do, with the people you love to spend time with, and keep working towards whatever it is that you’re striving for.

Weekend Forecast: The weather is warm (high of 91 today🌞), the traffic is bad, and there’s more events than I could possibly fit in the event section this weekend. Plus I’m sure that surprise shows will continue popping up over the next few days. Check out the event section at the bottom for a curated list of some of our favorite events this weekend! 🎸🪩
Best thing we ate this week… Reems Falafel is a middle eastern food truck focusing specifically on authentic Jerusalem Street food. They use a 150 year old family recipe, and it was so tasty! In a world where a lot of the late night Mediterranean restaurants taste relatively similar, Reems was a breath of fresh air and had some different flavor profiles than I am used to. Everything is made from scratch, including their pita and falafel. I had the beef and lamb plate and Kiana had the chicken plate, both of which came over basmati rice with tabbouleh, spicy hummus, and a pickled salad. They recently moved from I35 and 6th street down to The Yard on St. Elmo and South Congress. Go check them out at their new location!

Most fun we had this week… SXSW duh! This week has been a blur. Every day I’ve been going to free SXSW shows, activations, open bars, rooftop jam nights, and even a surprise last minute Anderson Paak show at Mayfair on Wednesday night! (I’ve never seen Mayfair so crazy 🍾)
Several of my colleagues expressed to me that they wanted to do SXSW stuff but they thought you needed an expensive badge or wristband to have a great time, and I just want to reiterate, that is NOT the case. There are soooo many free things to do. I don’t have a wristband or a badge and I’m losing count of how many open bars, activations, and shows I have been to at this point and we still have a few more days left!
Seriously SXSW is one of the things that has shaped this city and made it into what it is today. And even though there’s a noticeable lack of A$AP mansion party rumors this year…. It’s still one of the most fun weeks annually.
I’ve featured a ton of events in the event section below that should all be fairly accessible without a badge or wristband (I really spent some time vetting them) but if you happen to run into a door guy refusing entry, just know that’s part of the game at SXSW, and there’s usually a way inside if you get creative enough. Get out there and have some fun!

New Business that we want to try… Taking over the short-lived Sammataro Sports is a new sports bar called Oribellos that blends Filipino Heritage with American classics. Their menu looks extremely creative with offerings like Birria Pizza, and a stunning purple Ube Tres Leches cake.
I went to Sammataro Sports when they first opened, and it looks like some of the same people are still involved. I am bummed about the closing of the now defunct Sammataro location, but with my recent incredible experience with Filipino food at Oko, I am stoked to go check this spot out!
