Happy Friday ATX! 🤠 Edition #68
Check out our list of the best things to do in Austin this weekend! 🎭🎸☕

Happy Friday ATX! 🤠 It’s International Harry Potter Day! You’re a wizard Harry! 🧙🏻♂️🪄
I’ll give you one of my favorite Harry Potter quotes to start this week's newsletter…
"We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on."
- Sirius Black
It’s a reminder that in every single moment, we have a choice, a fork in the road.
Do I let it slide, or do I get road rage in Austin traffic?
Do I go work out, or do I sit on the couch and doomscroll?
You have the capability inside of you to make the better choice in these moments.
…and even if you know absolutely nothing about Harry Potter, you still know what I’m getting at.
Now let’s jump into things! Here’s your meme for this week!

Weekend Forecast: iHeartCountry Festival, Cinco De Mayo Festivities, Pecan Street Fest, yoga, comedy shows, and more! This weekend should be a great one. There’s rain on the forecast, but I swear there has been rain on the forecast dang near every day recently and I haven’t seen much of it… so we’ll see how it goes! ⛈️❓

Best thing we ate this week… If there was one thing I missed the most besides Barton Springs during my 2 years living in Denver, Colorado, it was proper breakfast tacos. The breakfast taco I thought about the most while I lived there? The migas taco from Vera Cruz. It’s one of my favorite breakfast tacos in town, and it’s definitely the best migas taco in the city. Vera Cruz is the best. The one at Radio Coffee South is open til 11pm every night, and while you can order breakfast tacos all day, they have a few other tacos that I think are best in class as well. The shrimp macha is the best shrimp taco I’ve ever had, and their barbacoa taco is a savory, juicy, beefy taco that is so rich that you will probably need to take a nap after eating it. If you haven't had Vera Cruz, they’re an Austin staple, and they have some really exciting things in the works. Leona is coming at some point this year, and I’ve heard whispers of another project that they’re working on that will open this year as well… but not sure if I can share just yet, so stay tuned until I know more!

Most fun we had this week… During SXSW I went to a “pizza party” at La Volta Pizza Club just north of downtown! It was a blast with a bar slanging cocktails, a DJ, great vibes, and of course… free pizza. Well, last night they had another pizza party. The sexy red lit pizza parlor turns into a dance floor, the drinks are flowing, and of course, they were slanging some complimentary slices. I’d keep an eye out for these events because they seem to happen semi-frequently and they’re a damn good time. 🍕🍸🎶

New Business that we want to try… Haywire just opened in the Domain Northside, and a lot…in a good way! It’s the fifth location from the folks behind Velvet Taco and Mexican Sugar, and it’s big. Like, 13,000 square feet big.
The vibe is full-on Texas: there’s a Longhorn Lounge, a retro trailer on the rooftop patio, and a menu that leans heavily on steak, elk tacos, and whiskey. We can’t wait to make it up to the Domain to check it out, the dining room looks beautiful.

Listing of the week
1611 Alameda Dr Austin, TX 78704
Price: $1,595,000
Neighborhood: ‘04
Square Feet: 3357

First time on the market in over 60 years—1611 Alameda is a true Travis Heights gem. This 1913 Craftsman bungalow sits on a massive corner double lot under a legendary live oak (yes, it’s in the city’s historic tree registry). The Mather family, both architects, lovingly cared for the home since the '60s, and their creative touch is felt throughout. Inside: high ceilings, warm wood, and original charm. Outside: a garage apartment, multiple carports, and loads of space to expand or reimagine.
Just steps from parks, trails, and South Congress hotspots, this home offers rare potential in 78704—and a slice of Austin history, too.
