Weekend Forecast: Hermanos Gutierrez, open bar comedy shows, Latt3 coffee club, Goat Pilates, and more! Just another weekend of throwing down in the beautiful city we all love. The weather looks like it should be great, but honestly, with how unpredictable it has been lately, who knows! We’re here to have fun rain or shine! šŸŒ§ļøā˜€ļøšŸŒ‡

Best thing we ate this week… I celebrated my 29th birthday yesterday and have been plotting this trip to Leroy & Lewis for weeks now. I will stand on this statement, and I know it’s a big one. Leroy & Lewis is the best BBQ in town, and I’ve been preaching this for 7+ years since they were just a mere food truck, long before they received a Michelin star. Everything on the menu is out of this world, and I have tried almost all of it. Yesterday was a special day, though… I finally got to try one of their beef ribs, and it was a borderline spiritual experience. This place sets the bar so high that it almost ruins all other BBQ spots for me. My jaw was on the floor after the first bite of that monster rib. I had to take a moment, lean back in my chair, and just take it all in. It was surreal, undoubtedly the richest, most decadent thing I have ever eaten. To accompany it, we had the kale caesar slaw, the house-made kimchi, and the beef tallow potato chips. It was the best birthday meal I have had in my entire life. If you guys haven’t been to L&L, make it a point to go.

Pro tip: Go for lunch between 11-1 before they sell out of the things that have made them famous… the beef cheeks, the brisket, and the ribs. If you go after things have sold out, try the burger. Personally, it’s my favorite burger in town, and on Mondays it is only $10.

Most fun we had this week… We went to Equipment Room! It may sound rather industrial, but it’s actually a small bar underneath Hotel Magdalena on South Congress that is inspired by the vinyl listening bars in Japan. It’s intimate, it’s cozy, it’s got a hell of a cocktail program, and they play great tunes through some incredible equipment. We had cocktails there to celebrate my birthday, and it was such a nice time with some of my favorite people. I had a Zombie (rum, velvet falernum, spiced grenadine, cinnamon, lime, angostura, mint) and Kiana had the Crime of Passion (tequila, mezcal, passionfruit, lime, honey, egg whites).

Make sure to make reservations if you plan to go; the space is tight, and it is common to get turned away if they are too busy.

New Business that we want to try… I found this page called Broadway Sing-Along Bar the other day, and they are popping up in Austin from June 6th to August 3rd at Wanderlust Wine Co on Shady Lane. Tickets start at $19 per person and include a welcome drink. This looks like a pretty fun activity and as someone who grew up going to Broadway shows, I am excited to check it out!
