Happy Friday ATX! 🤠 Edition #70

Check out our list of the best things to do in Austin this weekend! 🎶🪩🏄🏻‍♀️

Happy Friday ATX! 🤠 It’s National Barbecue Day! If you needed an excuse to go try out last weeks shoutout Leroy & Lewis… here ya go!

As we approach the halfway point of the year with June just around the corner, it's a great time to reflect on the year so far.

What's been your highlight?

What is something you could push harder on?

Are you making progress on your 2025 goals?

It’s shocking to me that we’re already almost halfway through this year… I know I have some serious work to do to get to where I want to be by the end of it!

A little over 6 months to go! We’re in this together! 🫡

Now let’s jump into things! Here’s your meme for this week!

Weekend Forecast: I give up on predicting the weather after last weekend’s surprise downpour. No clue what this weekend holds, but with temps in the 90s, it’s bound to be toasty. It’s a busy one—comedy shows, the Texas Indie Oyster Fest, and live music from Maribou State, Southwest Son (my country band), and more. 🤠🎸

Best thing we ate this week… I finally made it over to The Little Darlin’ and I’m beating myself up for not going sooner! We just popped in for some late night dinner but were really impressed by the place. It’s huge, and unlike pins which is modern and truly massive, this place really feels like a classic Austin dive bar, but with a serious food menu. The inside has pool tables and plenty of areas to enjoy food or drinks with friends. The outside is a sprawling backyard with a nice stage that had a live band rocking out.

We went to the bar and ordered the sweet potato appetizer with chili crisp and fried garlic, the melon salad with Oaxacan cheese and slivered jalapeños to share. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and Kiana had their burger. The food was freaking awesome. Especially the sweet potato 🤩 I had been told this place was pretty great by my little sister, but it exceeded my expectations. We also had a cocktail each, I sipped a frozen mezcal margarita that was good, but Kiana had a frozen strawberry Agua Fresca that was perfect. This time we just stopped in for dinner, but next time I plan to spend an entire evening enjoying the live music, food, and drinks with friends!

The Little Darlin’

Most fun we had this week… We went to check out Pins Mechanical, the new 40,000 square foot entertainment center with 4 bars, food trucks, duckpin bowling, arcade games, ping pong, patio pong, foosball, giant jenga, and so much more 🤯🤣 it was about as cool as it sounds, and while I wasn’t a huge fan of the retro arcade games (probably because I suck at them), I had a fantastic time with the duckpin bowling. What’s duckpin bowling? It’s bowling but with much smaller balls, smaller pins, and instead of 2 tries per frame you get 3 tries per frame. It was actually so much fun.

We also had a drink called the Leap Frog which was a mezcal, melon, lime, and yuzu libation served with a gummy frog garnish and literal toy frogs 🐸 haha it was hilarious and as a mezcal enjoyer, quite tasty. Pins was a good time, and I could see it being even more fun with a big group of friends! The 2 food trucks onsite were Lefty’s Pizza, and Granny’s Tacos, and while we didn’t eat there, if I had stayed for a few more drinks I definitely would’ve ordered some food too.

PINS Mechanical

New Business that we want to try… Remember how I mentioned that I had heard whispers of a new spot from the team behind Veracruz? Well, it’s officially been announced, and I am so excited! They’re launching a new mezcal bar called La Mezca, and while I don’t know much about it yet, this is their website, so you can stay up to date as new information comes out!
