Happy Friday ATX! 🤠 Edition #71
It's Memorial Day Weekend! Let's soak up the sun! ☀️👙🪩

Happy Friday ATX! 🤠 It’s National Drinking with Chickens Day! No seriously… 🤔 but does drinking with some fried chicken count? Asking for a friend… 🐔
Life moves fast, and it's easy to get caught up in the hustle, I mean it’s already the end of May...
This weekend, let's make a conscious effort to slow down and savor the simple pleasures - be it a leisurely walk around Lady Bird Lake, a spontaneous dance session in your living room, or indulging in your favorite taco spot.
Joy often hides in the little things; all we have to do is notice.
Now let’s jump into it! Here’s your meme for this week!

seriously…

Weekend Forecast: It’s Memorial Day weekend and the weather looks like it should be good, but honestly who knows… from Paddle Board Yoga, to Greek Fest, to Latin Nights at Luna, and even a 2-stepping night at Moody Amphitheater, this weekend should have something for everyone! ☀️

Best thing we ate this week… Even though it’s been 90+ degrees lately, I craved ramen earlier this week, so we went to my favorite ramen spot. The 60-hour pork bone broth that they craft at Ramen Tatsu-Ya is life-changing. It’s so rich, savory, and smooth. I ordered the Sho-Yu ramen with the chashu pork belly, woodear mushrooms, bamboo, the ajitama egg, and fresh scallions. It’s one of the best flavor combos in the world if you ask me. It makes me want to go all the way to Japan just to see the culture that birthed such a perfect food. We also had the chashu rice bowl (pork belly, scallion, pickled ginger over rice) and some spicy edamame on the side which were equally as delicious. If you haven’t been to Ramen Tatsuya, you’ve got to go.
Pro tip: Make a reservation for Tiki Tatsu-Ya for after dinner, a tiki bar that is underneath the restaurant and one of the best bars in Austin, they have a rum list with over 200 rums!

Most fun we had this week… We checked out the newish bar on West 6th The Betty recently, and it was pretty cool. They’ve gone all out on the setting, curating a space that can only be described as sexy, with red lights, intricate wallpapers, chandeliers, and a stark attention to detail. The drinks were good, the DJ was solid, and while you’re still more likely to catch me on East 6th, this is probably my new favorite spot over on West.

New Business that we want to try… Citizens is opening its first Austin café at 4818 Burnet Rd., and they’re going all in. It’s their first spot doing breakfast and dinner - think banana bread French toast in the morning, chicken parm at night, and espresso martinis somewhere in between.
They’re also doing a Vegemite flight (on biscuits - three styles), and there’s a table called The Giving Booth that donates half its daily profits to local causes.
It’s Aussie café culture with a New York twist and a sprinkle of Austin weird. Sounds like a vibe.
