Happy Friday ATX! š¤ Edition #75
Check out our list of the best things to do in Austin this weekend! š¶šŖ©āļø

Happy Friday ATX! š¤ Itās National Food Truck Day!
Austinās food truck scene is insane and has birthed some legendary restaurants, including Leroy and Lewis, Veracruz, and Torchyās Tacos to name a few.
Off the top of my head, there are about a dozen others on the rise, too.
Iām grateful to live in such a food city, as evidenced by this newsletter.
Anyways letās jump into things! Hereās your meme for this week!

Weekend Forecast: Looks like another sunny weekend in Austin, some of my favorite events this weekend are Open Decks at ATX Organics, Cabana Clubās first anniversary, and Kianaās Sunset DJ set at IYKYK! It should be a sweet weekend if you get off the couch and make it one! ššŖ©

Best thing we ate this week⦠We hit up The Thompson Hotelās pool deck restaurant, Arriba Abajo, and usually I donāt expect much from most hotel restaurantās but this place was a pleasant surprise. The space is grand and beautifully decorated, with an outdoor patio that would be a great place to have some drinks at sunset. We all had different variations of margaritas to start, and I just went with a mezcal marg. We had the trio with queso, guac, and salsa, served with those puffy, fresh, crispy seasoned heirloom corn chips. Then had an order of the rock shrimp, and ordered another one because they were insane. I wonāt go through everyoneās individual orders because it was a family outing, but I had the duck carnitas, and they blew me away. It was a duck breast cooked so tender you could cut it with a spoon, served on top of cotija polenta, with charred persimmon salsa. It was nuts! Kiana had the short rib taquitos that were also ridiculous. I highly recommend this spot, but Iād recommend steering more towards the elevated dishes and steering clear of the tacos because there are a million places to get great tacos in this city.

Arriba Abajo
Most fun we had this week⦠We caught some laughs at my buddy Eleazarās show at Shakespeare's on Wednesday night. It was a hilarious lineup with tons of crowd work. I love crowd work, itās a bit of a rush because you know you can get put on the spot at any moment. Eleazar is hosting multiple shows a week, and if you keep up with the Kill Tony Podcast at all, itās fun to go out and see rising comics in the local comedy scene and then see some of them pop up and get their big moment on the podcast. There are nightly shows all over town, if you plan a few weeks in advance you can hit up the mothership, but if you want to just go hit up a last minute show thereās always The Creek and The Cave, Sunset Strip, and Black Rabbit, Rozcoās, East Austin Comedy Club, and so many more that run shows nightly. In my opinion, if youāre not taking advantage of Austinās comedy scene, youāre not getting everything this city has to offer.

New Business that we want to try⦠Rickyās Chicken! Looks like the folks behind De Nada and Lil Easy are going to start slanging chicken tendies out of Lil Easy. This sounds interesting and delicious. Just announced this morning! We love a good chicken tendy.
