Happy Friday ATX! 🤠 Edition #79

Check out our list of the best things to do in Austin this weekend! šŸŽ¶šŸŖ©ā˜€ļø

Happy Friday ATX! 🤠 It’s National Hawaiian Shirt Day! I might just have to break out my cringiest one covered in pineapples to pregame my band's show tonight!

Okay this might be a long intro… as I’m sure some of you noticed… we took a little hiatus.

Honestly, after sending 78 of these… it was feeling a little redundant on our end, and we needed to step back and take some time to figure out what the future of Happy Friday ATX looks like. When I started this newsletter, I was working a corporate job downtown; now my life looks entirely different. My band has gained some serious traction, I’ve started releasing solo dance music under my own artist name… (here’s my first single by the way), and the entire vision has shifted quite a lot.

We wanted to figure out a way to tie in more of the things that Kiana and I have been doing, DJing, music, movement, connection, and just creating awesome experiences. Going forward, we will still be sending out the newsletter, but we want to shift our focus more to building community.

Sooo, we’re throwing our first Happy Friday ATX Event called GATHER. A DJ Powered Wellness Event, and we couldn’t be more excited. Use this promo code ā€œhfatxfamā€ for 50% discount at checkout. We can’t wait to see you out there! HERE’S THE LINK!

Anyways let’s jump into things! Here’s your meme for this week!

Best thing we ate this week… Did you know Juiceland has something special going on at the Tarrytown location off of Exposition? Yeah, neither did we until yesterday! I randomly came across this Instagram page called ā€œJuiceland Tea Party,ā€ which immediately caught my eye because Kiana and I really like boba tea. I clicked in and lo and behold, this Juiceland location is offering not only boba tea but also SHAVED ICE?! I tend to stay away from sno-cones because they are just straight artificial flavors, dyes, and syrup… but a Juiceland one?!

We couldn’t help ourselves, so we went to check it out and it was everything you would imagine. The boba tea was sooo good, I had the passionfruit green tea with boba, and it had perfectly sized cubes of passionfruit chopped in there, it was so refreshing. Kiana got the strawberry dragon fruit boba, and it was awesome too, although maybe just a bit heavy on the oat milk which made it slightly less refreshing and a bit thicker. The star of the show was the Tigers Blood shaved ice, though…. It contains no artificial colors, flavors, or syrups, but the flavor was better than any shaved ice I have ever had.

You have to go before summer is over! It’s also a pilot program, so the more popular it is, the more likely it will expand to other locations…

Most fun we had this week… A few weeks ago, I hosted Sol Flow, a sunset wellness event at the Thompson Austin Hotel with My Vinyasa Practice. Guests flowed through a 45-minute yoga practice as the sky turned gold, then mingled with some of Austin’s best local wellness brands, sampling and exploring everything from Siete Foods and Wonky Blends to skincare, healthy sodas, chocolate, and recovery sessions from StretchLab.

We’re doing it all again next Thursday, August 21st from 7–9 PM, same outdoor sunset vibes, same incredible community energy. Plus, you’ll get an exclusive discount on dinner at Arriba Abajo, the Thompson’s elevated Mexican restaurant.

Space is limited and filling fast. Get your ticket here
